Biography	Savant et poète persan.- Son œuvre scientifique est très réputée en son temps et c'est une autorité influente à Nīšāpūr.- Il participe à une réunion organisée en 467/1074 pour la réforme du calendrier persan et la construction d'un laboratoire astronomique.- En mathématiques, son commentaire d'Euclide eut un rôle majeur et novateur.- En philosophie, c'est un élève d'Ibn Sīnā (Avicenne).- Son œuvre poétique n'est connue que plus tard.- L'authenticité de beaucoup des poèmes qui lui sont attribués est douteuse mais ils permettent de constater l'existence d'une tradition ḫayyāmienne dans la poésie, avec la forme du quatrain.
Biography	Persian scholar and poet.- His scientific work was already famous at his time and he was an influential authority in Nīšāpūr.- He took part in a meeting held in 467/1074 for the persian calendar's reform and the building of an astronomy observatory.- In the mathematical field, his comment of Euclide had a major influence.- In the philosophical fiels, he was a follower of Ibn Sīnā (Avicenna).- His poetical work became famous later.- The authenticity of many of his poems is doubtful but it tells us that a there is a Ḫayyāmian tradition in poetry literature, withe the quatrains
