جاء الكتاب ردا على من استعظموا دعوى الاجتهاد وعدوه منكرا بين العباد، حيث أوضح السيوطي أن الاجتهاد فرض من فروض الكفايات في كل عصر، وواجب على أهل كل زمان أن يقوم به طائفة منهم في كل قطر. والكتاب على أربعة أبواب؛ الباب الأول في ذكر نصوص العلماء أن الاجتهاد في كل عصر فرض من فروض الكفايات وأنه لا يجوز شرعا إخلاء العصر منه. الباب الثاني في ذكر نصوص العلماء على أن الدهر لا يخلو من مجتهد ولا يجوز عقلا، أي لا يمكن خلو العصر منه. الباب الثالث في ذكر من حث على الاجتهاد وأمر به وذم التقليد ونهى عنه. الباب الرابع في فوائد منثورة تتعلق بالاجتهاد. |

In this work, al-Suyūṭī argues that Ijtihad is a collective obligation in all ages. He refutes the claim which states that the door of Ijtihad has been closed in the late centuries of Islam. The book is divided into four chapters: in the first, al-Suyūṭī mentioned statements attributed to scholars which proves that Ijtihad is a collective obligation in every century. In the second chapter, he mentioned statements of scholars who proves that its intellectually necessary that every century has at least one mujtahid. In the third chapter, he mentioned scholars who encourage Ijtihād and contempt imitation/taqlid. The fourth and final chapter mentioned a few benefits relates to the Ijtihād. |
